Getting REAL

A Masterclass in Holistic Meditation by Lee Trew

The One Ring

Of all the skills I teach my clients, this is the most powerful.

Hands down.

Meditation is the ‘one ring to rule them all’ - the metaskill that underpins all other endeavors in life.

Want more clarity?

More peace?

A greater sense of purpose?

Get better at relationships? Parenting?

More creativity and spontaneity?

More productivity and effectiveness?

Do better at work or find the courage to start your own work?

Whether it’s inner or outer breakthroughs you’re after, mastery of your mind and nervous system is the bottle-neck.

So focusing on how you use your mind/body awareness offers the greatest rewards for the least effort, in the quickest possible time.

I know that might sound like hyperbole.

It also happens to be the truth, in my opinion.

Meditation is the key.

Tim Ferriss, the grandfather of lifehacking, agrees.

When asked about the single most important skill for success he said it was meditation.

He said that of all the hundreds of high-performers he had studied, in all areas of life, a meditation practice was the common thread.

Beyond Mindfulness

Traditional meditation focuses on the mind.

‘Notice this, think about that.’ ‘Direct your attention here.’

Along the way, it often becomes  an act of trying to ‘think the right thought’ or even more impossible, ‘don’t have any thoughts at all.’

And that approach often comes from philosophies that explicitly demonise feelings - desire is shunned and battled against.

‘Don’t respond to your feelings, just notice them’ is a form of dissociation, in my view.

We need to respond to our feelings. Not by acting them out like a reckless child, but by embracing them, feeling them.

Ending the cycle of suppression, denial and distraction that leads only to numbness, compulsion, anxiety and depression.

Meditation needs to be heartful, as well as mindful.

A Practice that Can be Lived

Most meditation practices split themselves between intent focus (seated meditations) and releasing/relaxing (yoga nidra /guided relaxation).

But the intense focus can quickly become disembodied, and the lying down meditation is more like a lovely nap - it can’t be done while we’re going about our business.

Getting Real is a dynamic meditation we can take anywhere, while doing anything.

In the midst of work, play, conversation and even while distressed or overwhelmed.

Truly Holistic

Getting Real combines:

  • Focus / Presence

  • Down-regulation / Relaxation

  • Somatic Experiencing / Gratitude

  • Receptivity / Listening

Because of this multidimensional aspect, Getting Real avoids many of the traditional pitfalls of meditation and becomes a truly holistic daily practice you can not only feel supported by, you can also enjoy and look forward to.

And that’s not all.

Wider Circles

This practice is located within the context of a cultural regeneration and repair framework, so that the way we practice it actually becomes an act of healing and reconnection that impacts our relationships, and therefore our communities and our culture.

This is a form of gentle, powerful and simple activism.

Meditation as a reweaving of connections.

Connection as a spiritual practice.

Becoming the change.

This is a practice to live by.

What’s in the training?

  • Origins

I share how this practice emerged from a real-life story I was told, of a simple conversation between a San elder and an anthropologist.

The anthropologist asked the elder, ‘What does it mean to you, being a human?’

The answer was breathtaking in its simplicity and beauty, and has been inspiring my work ever since.

  • Stepping Stones

Using stories and poetry, we break the four-strand Getting Real practice down into its constituent parts.

  • The Tapestry of Real

  • R is for Recognise

  • E is for Ease

  • A is Appreciation

  • L is for Listening

  • Weaving the Strands

  • Looking ahead to a Culture of Connection

  • Building Blocks

There is a standalone practice for each part, to help you connect with and embody that aspect.

  • Exercise: Arriving in the Body

  • Exercise: Ease in the Body

  • Exercise: Gratitude and Appreciation Walk

  • Exercise: Listening Meditation

  • Audio and Text

Each section has been recorded with studio-quality sound for easy integration into your daily life.

And a transcript of the audio is provided for those who prefer to read, or to quickly search, scan and access specific parts of the content.

  • Spacious Rhythm

The audio is presented in standalone chapters, with each new chapter released after 5 days, to give you ample time to focus on the content and practice without being overwhelmed by content.

It takes 25 days to access the full course content - plenty of time to dive deep and engage with the powerful stories and practices.

  • Community

A key component of regular practice is a community with which to share challenges and breakthroughs.

You’ll have access to a community of fellow Real folks through the Connection Culture app, where you can share your experiences, find out how others are going and ask questions of each other.

I’ll be checking the group too, so it’s a way to stay in touch with me and ask me any questions you might have.

Investment

I’m confident this is a resource you’ll be using and gaining from for years to come.

There is so much in these stories, perspectives and practices.

For me, in my life, this material has been priceless.

And to access it, you would previously have had to book in for 1-on-1 sessions.

But I want this to be accessible, and so I’m offering it all for only AU$99 at the moment - less than the price of a single 1-on-1 session with me.

I’m also including a Bonus 11 min guided recording of the whole Getting Real practice, where I guide you through in real time, so you can easily incorporate it into your daily life.

Everyday we make investments

We invest our time, our efforts, our focus and our life force.

This is an investment in yourself.

And it’s an investment that will provide massive returns on your initial input.

Seriously.

Knowing how to use your mind skilfully makes everything in life easier, better and more rewarding.

Don’t be like the woodcutter who says he can’t possibly stop and sharpen his saw, because he has too many trees to cut down.

Gift this practice to yourself.

Level up your life.

And it doesn’t have to feel like hard work.

People really love it!
